RAF Irvin type leather/sheepskin flying jacket. As far as we are aware this is not an orginal Irvin flying jacket, but would be ideal on display, in a collection, or for re-enacting if not subjected to too much stress.
Jacket is fragile but ideal for static display, or occasional/very light wear. It will not stand up to daily/normal use without strengthening some seams. Some seams have come unstitched and have either already been glued or would benefit from re-gluing, particularly rear of neck which has about 5" unstitched (this is not apparent in the photos). No rips or tears. Leather is reasonably supple and has been treated with Pecard leather treatment, but is creased/worn as per photos. Collar strap buckle is present but unstitched. All zips working although 1 cuff has lost the zip puller. Wool lining worn at edges of cuffs but in generally good condition elsewhere.
Size: Very approx will fit a 38/39" chest with shirt etc underneath. External measurements are:
Chest Width (laid flat): 22"
Waist (width, laid flat): 20"
