A bespoke tailored officer's "crombie" coat. Soft camel/taupe crombie wool with leather "football" buttons and Coldstream Guards officer's gilt Kings crowns and garter star Colonel's insignia to both epaulettes. Coat is named to "St John Child Bart 1 Batl CG" - owned by Sir Coles John Child, 2nd Baronet Childs, who embarked for France as a Lieutenant with the BEF on 29th Sept 1939 with 1 Coy, 1 Batt CG.
Sizes:Approx 36/38" chest. Actual measurements are:
Chest Width (laid flat): 20"
Jacket Waist (width, laid flat): 19"
Condition: Generally very good condition. Coat is clean other than a small dark mark to lower right front below pocket flap, and free from any significant damage, although the back of the coat has several areas of surface moth tracking (not holes). Most noticeable is a line of nibbles extending approx 3" on the rear waist (see photo #11). There are approx 5 individual nips elsewhere on the back, largest being approx 5mm x 3mm (see photo #12). Garter stars are worn through polishing.
