RAF Mess Uniform, Squadron Leader Pilot

A RAF No.5 mess uniform consisting of jacket, waistcoat and trousers (shirt/tie not included, braces/shirts usually available as an option). Jacket is ranked to a Squadron Leader, has mounted QC buttons, link buttons and a pilots brevet/"wings". Wool waistcoat is full silk-backed with mounted RAF buttons and a rear waist adjuster. Trousers are high backed with zip fly and braces buttons.

Date:  1963

Sizes:   Jacket approx 38/39" chest. Trousers approx 34" waist. Actual measurements are:

Chest Width (laid flat):  20"

Shoulder:  17.5"

Jacket Waist (width, buttoned):  18"

Length:  20"

Sleeve:  24"

Waistcoat waist (laid flat): 17.5"

Trouser waist:  34" (+1" to let out)

Inside Leg:  30" (+1" to let down)

Condition: In good condition. Jacket shows very little wear and is damage free. Generally very clean although some light marks/food stains to front (see photo #8, looks worse in photo than in reality). Some fading to rank lace. Waistcoat damage free, generally clean although has some light marks to lower lapel (see photo #13, looks worse in photo) and stain to inside lining (see photo #16). Trousers clean and damage free.
