Royal Marine Captain Mess
A Royal Marine officer-pattern mess uniform consisting of jacket, waistcoat and trousers. Jacket is scarlet wool with black facings, mounted RM buttons, RM Captain's rank. Black wool waistcoat has mounted RM buttons. Trousers are high backed with button fly, hook/eye waist fastening, braces buttons and 1/4" stripe.

Date:        1979

Size:         Approx 37/39" chest. Trousers approx 31" waist. Actual measurements are:

Chest Width (laid flat):            20"

Shoulder:                                16.5"

Jacket Waist (width, laid flat):  n/a, worn open.

Length:                                    19.5"

Sleeve:                                    24"

Waistcoat Waist:                     17"  (max 32" waist)

Trouser waist:                        31"   (+1.5" to let out)

Inside Leg:                             30"  (+1.5" to let down)

Condition:       Good condition. Light wear but clean. The only damage is a tear approx 1cm long just below the left knee which can be darned/repaired discretely.
