Lincoln Rifle Volunteers Tunic, 1870s An original red coarse wool tunic to the 20th Lincoln Rifle Volunteers, 1st Admin Battalion (Market Rasen). Thought to date from the 1870s. With Lincoln Rifle Volunteer white metal buttons, yellow Austrian knot details to cuffs, silver embroidered Sergeant's chevrons with a silver star above, a rifle proficiency/marksmans distinction badge with 2 stars signifying 1st class proficiency at 900yards, 3 yellow stars to right arm denoting 15+ years service.
Date: Believed to be late 1870s, possibly early 1880s.
Condition: Generally very good. Intact, strong, no significant damage. There are some dark marks to shoulders/waist, presumably from leather equipment.
